Statement by Hacienda La Puente Unified School District

Regarding Workman High School Staffing Updates

City of Industry — The following is a statement by Yvette Meneses, Executive Director, Secondary Schools, of the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District regarding staffing updates to the Workman High School Band Program.

“We’re focused on putting resources toward the programs that provide the best education for the most number of students. Based on my review approximately 150 students participate in Workman High School’s award-winning Band Program, and we’re proud to continue to provide them this enriching and important educational experience. However, as enrollment numbers continue to decline at the school we’re unable to continue to have a 2nd full-time instructor for the music Program for the 2018-19 school year.”

“In reverting back to the original staffing for the music program, we remain committed to our emphasis on high-quality arts education and ensure our Band Program will remain a vital part of Workman’s identity. We know that these changes are difficult, but we also know that they are necessary to continue serving our students the best way we can.”
