English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) & District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)
What is ELAC?
ELAC stands for English Learner Advisory Committee. It is the site-based committee that meets to discuss the needs of the English Learner (EL) students at a particular school.
Which Schools are Required to Have an Elected ELAC?
Each school with 21 or more English learners must have a functioning English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC).
ELAC Membership Requirements
Parents or guardians of English learners not employed by the District shall constitute the majority membership (51 percent or more) of the committee.
DELAC Representation
Each school's English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) shall have the opportunity to elect at least one of its members to be a site representative DELAC member.
