Posted 3/3/22

CITY OF INDUSTRY La Puente High School’s “LP Runs LA” running group received new gear and shoes – donated from the sports equipment company Brooks Running on Feb. 26 – to support the six student-athletes set to run the Los Angeles Marathon later this month.

La Puente High School Principal Dr. Lisa Lopez, coaches, students, Brooks Running representative Casey Evans and Iman Wilkerson, CEO of the lifestyle running application “The Run Down,” gathered at A Snail’s Pace Running Shop in Brea to support the LP Runs LA students.

Brooks Running provided running bags that included shorts, shirts, a water bottle, a running journal and stickers and magnets to each student. Wilkerson, Evans and A Snail’s Pace Running Shop manager Jay Auditor shared advice, gave inspirational speeches and helped students select a new pair of shoes for their upcoming running journey.

“Thank you to the HLPUSD teachers, coaches and community, Brooks Running, The Run Down and A Snail’s Place Running Shop for providing our LP Runs LA students with the gear and motivation to succeed in this month’s marathon,” Superintendent Dr. Alfonso Jiménez said. “We are proud of all the running clubs in our District and applaud our LP Runs LA students for their dedication and persistence as they prepare for this remarkable experience.”

The 2022 Los Angeles Marathon will start at 6:55 a.m. on Sunday, March 20 at Dodger Stadium, 1000 Elysian Park Ave., Los Angeles and conclude with a finish festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Century Park, 2000 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles.
