Theater
INTRO THEATER
This course is designed to introduce students to theater practices, culture, and history. Students will learn the following basic elements of theater: theater terminology, set design, lighting design, sound design, make-up design, basic costuming, acting, script writing, and directing. Students will learn skills in voice management, stage movement, and characterization, read and analyze plays, participate in theater games, design and build technical elements, and participate in various student productions. The goal of this class is to give students a feel for the overall theater experience.
ADVANCED THEATER
Advanced Theater is designed to further instruct students in all areas of theater. This class is project based, and students are given a choice to work as a Technician in lighting, set, sound, costuming, and/or make-up design, or as an Actor. This class will explore playwrights from various time periods and will further engage in areas of character development, script writing, vocal development, origins of theater, improvisation, direction, production design elements, stage management, and theater and culture.
